When a family caregiver is in the midst of caregiver burnout, he/she can alleviate the situation. You must remember to never feel guilty about asking for help, seek out friends, family, or respite care for support so you can take breaks. Make time to nurture your physical well being as well as your emotional ones. Participate in activities you enjoy, pamper yourself, eat well, keep a journal if it helps and don’t forget to find reasons to just laugh. Giving yourself permission to be a happy person will make you a better caregiver.
